Warm and Spicy Stewed Apples

Stewed apples are soothing to the digestive tract and wonderful for anybody with gastrointestinal problems.

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 4 apples, core removed and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon or more of ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon or more of ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • ¼ cup water

 

Method

  • Place all ingredients into a pot and heat on the stove until it simmers.
  • Turn the heat down to low, stir and allow to cook for approximately 30 minutes, or until the apples are very soft.
  • Stir every so often and if the mixture dries out too much, add a little more water.

Serve for dessert with a dollop of canned coconut cream.
